After 9 months I feel I have to rehome Koko, my Australian shepherd. We have been to the park with him a couple of times. He has loved being there and enjoyed playing with any dog who was running or playing.
Koko is 2 years and 3 months old. According to the AKC, he is a Miniature American shepherd, but he is not the least bit "miniature." He is the size of a standard Aussie, 21" at shoulder, 48lbs. He is well-trained and well-behaved, except when he gets together with my other dog, Bruin. At that point the two of them are Batman and Robin and my authority is no longer recognized. He still behaves well when alone with me so I hope to get him into a new home before this new thing sets in.
His first owner kept him crated 24/7, but socialization has not been a problem. He is friendly to everybody - human or canine. He is typical of the breed - a little bit neurotic and in need of many, many belly rubs. He needs plenty of exercise, now that he's been allowed to have it, and tons of attention. He is protective, but this has not been a problem - it's part of being an Aussie. He has shown no negative reaction to children, but he despises having anybody pull his hair and will try to bite, but not viciously. Still, I think it would be better if there were no small kids in the house. shoulder necklace
He's a great dog with a lot of potential. He still needs to learn how to play with toys but he has shown a great ability to adapt to circumstances and I think he will be an easy dog to train further if you think you might want to.
He is microchipped and neutered. I can provide his crate, a leash, a collar, and his muzzle. Maybe you won't need that last thing!
Please message me if you're serious about giving Koko a new home. There will be a fee, to be decided on once the perfect home has been found. Feel free to share this post!
