Chapter 3, Day 12 Cheering Squad

My day started at 2AM, but the fatigue I’m experiencing is well worth it! I had to go to Baltimore to support my dear friend Alicia Wilson , as she was named 2018 Power Woman by the Baltimore Leadership for Young Women.

Alicia’s continues to inspire me daily because no matter how many accolades she receives, she remains the same gracious and humble person I became friends with over 15 years ago. She has a tremendous support system and I am thankful to be a part of it. Today I was that obnoxious friend taking bootleg video footage of her speech! After the event, I headed to my designer friend’s house to help her sew prom dresses. I was her designated “sew hand” for the day while she met with clients. Though I appreciate the opportunity to utilize my design/sewing skills, I don’t want to see another piece of sequins, lace, silk/satin, spandex for at least a month! In fact, throw the entire fabric store away!!

Overall, I had a great day. Nothing better than witnessing my friends being recognized for their brilliance and living in purpose!
